Dragon Ball Road Doujinshi

(01/07/2011) Pyla Dune - Arcachon - France

had a pending visit to the area of Arcachon and Bordeaux long as the weather forecasts are not very good change the forest ... the sand.

A map of the area to be located (click on image to enlarge):

and an aerial photo taken from the Internet so that you see an idea

together with our friends Esti Beni and France get the hell to walk through the Landes, Arcachon leave behind and we move to the neighboring village of La Teste de Buch, a starting point of today's excursion: we will visit the Great Dune of Pilat (or Pyla), the largest sand dune in Europe.

Leaving the car in a parking enabled in the forest of its size gives us to understand this at certain times of year has to be sheer madness.

The advantage of coming on January 7 to visit the Dune is that there is no God here ... will not be the best day of the year to visit but at least quietly enjoy. We travel

for about 10 minutes a path through the forest ...

... and here is the pile of sand.

In inland side facing the inclination varies between 30 and 40%.

all that tract of forest that was planted down there left in your day to stop the advance into the sand dune.

The gusty wind blowing in reaching the top of the dune allows us to get used to the idea of how the dune slowly gaining ground (about 4 or 5 meters per year according to those who study subject.)

After the first ramp up as we climb to the top of the dune and you can see the coast.

Awesome place ... and practically alone.

a strange feeling that to walk across the sand at this point and as close to the water.
We

crossing the dunes in search of its highest point (I believe this is already "deformation mountaineer").

a considerable height from the forest here.

Beni, Esti and Silvia do not stop to rock the cameras.

No, no chairs ... I've searched for a new utility to the Nikon tripod.

Well, we have reached the highest point of the Dune of Pilat: obviously is changing by the action of wind, but its altitude is estimated at about 117 meters high and its length reaches 3 km (which for a pile of sand, it's okay, I say .)

Well, I'm sorry but I can not hold: he had seen pictures of the odd freeze up making it and I have to try it ...

JERONIMOOOOOOO!
Go

feeling ... only a few seconds but I'm impressed. In the mountain would be impossible but here I can not shoot from a peak vacuum without breaking your neck (I hope ...)

Landing is relatively wobbly but after several "cheap" we will continue to tempt fate ....

From the top we can see some sand banks like small islands have their share of guilt in the formation of the Dune du Pilat.

And now a snapshot "Guenes, Gen", colors, shapes and figures on the sand castings.

And little by little we start back with the feeling of being in a privileged time: 1 to 1.5 million people are estimated to annually visit this place ... and now we have been enjoying for ourselves.

And then .... then visit to the region of Bordeaux, for which we like (though not conceive of) the world of wine is spectacular:

Impressive "Chateaux".

Vineyards.

Peoples.

Ah, if you can get close Saint Emilion, a beautiful village nestled in an area close to Bordeaux wine is the only and main character.

That if your portfolio except that "jump" (much) notes thou must do what I do: look at the window, flip to the prices of the bottles and keep walking until the next store.

short: a nice and interesting destination for a few days away from the mountain ... of herbs and stones, not sand.
